  • A massive deep water offshore oil field, it is one of the largest oil discoveries to be made this century and the first supergiant oil field in Brazil
  • It is located in 7000 feet deep water
  • Lula field has an estimated total recoverable volume of 8.3 billion barrels of oil equivalent (oil plus gas)
  • The field began pilot production using the Cidade de São Vicente FPSO, before launching the full development of the field
  • Full development involves multiple FPSOs
  • Gas is exported by the Lula-Mexilhão Gas Pipeline, which is 216 kilometers long, 18 inches in diameter and has an operating pressure of 250 bar (pressure unit). It connects the Cidade Angra dos Reis platform to the Mexilhão platform
  • Gas is then transported to the onshore Cabiúnas Gas Processing Plant by the Rota Cabiunas Gas Pipeline
