Ongoing Projects

  • For more information see Tuapse Refinery Project
  • Rosneft is currently implementing a comprehensive expansion and upgrade program at Tuapse Refinery, which is primarily aimed at:
    • increasing refining capacity to 12 mln. tonnes (88 mln. barrels) by 2011
    • increasing refining depth to 95%
    • launching production of high-quality Euro-4 and Euro-5 products by 2012
    • implementing process control and management systems meeting modern industrial safety and environmental standards
    • establishing mechanisms to adjust the volume and quality of petroleum products in accordance with market trends and seasonal fluctuations in demand
  • In 2007, within Phase I of this expansion and upgrade project, the refinery obtained necessary licenses and started design and engineering activities under the following projects: diesel fuel hydrotreatment, hydrocracking of a mixture of vacuum gas oil and heavy coker gas oil, hydrogen production, naphtha isomerization, catalytic reforming, delayed coking, and sulphur production. The refinery also completed the design and engineering stage of the ELOU-AVT-12 project (atmospheric and vacuum distillation units and a naphtha hydrotreatment unit).
  • Once the plant modernization program is completed, Tuapse Refinery will be able to fully meet the demand for high-quality fuel in the rapidly developing Southern Federal District of Russia. Furthermore, upgrade of the Tuapse oil loading terminal to a total annual transshipment capacity of 17 mln. tonnes will enable the refinery to significantly increase petroleum product exports.

Other Information

  • Tuapse Refinery in the Krasnodar region has been part of Rosneft since the Company’s establishment, and is the oldest Rosneft’s refinery (commissioned in 1929). The plant has the most favorable location among Rosneft’s refineries, and is also the only Russian refinery on the Black Sea coast.
