The Project

  • Project Type: Upgrade
  • Project Summary: The Project consists on the revamping of the existing units, the desulfurization of Diesel and gasoline, bottom conversion and the incensement of the average octane of gasoline; in addition, the production of sulfuric acid and self consumption generated electricity.
  • The capacities estimated for the selected process configuration are the following:
    • Revamping and modification of existing processes units:
    • Primary Distillation Unit (from 62,0 to 95,0 kBSD)
    • Catalytic Cracking Unit (from 19,0 to 25,0 (kBSD), including the Gas Recovering Unit and Gas and Gasoline Hydrotreating.
    • Fitting of the Vacuum Distillate Unit - VDU I (21,0 kBSD) to heavier charges.
  • Construction of new processes units:
    • Hydrotreating of Diesel (41,0 kBSD)
    • Hydrotreating of cracking naphtha (9,5 kBSD)
    • Vacuum Distillate VDU III (35, 0 kBSD)
    • Coker (22,6 kBSD)
    • Hydrotreating of naphtha (13,3 kBSD)
    • Catalytic reformation of naphtha (9,5 kBSD)
    • Hydrogen Plant (21,0 MMPCD)
    • Sulfuric Acid Recovering Plant (362,0 TMD)
    • Amines Plant
    • Cogeneration Plant
  • Revamping and modification of Industrial Services and General Facilities:

Crude Supply

  • The project will enable the refinery to use very heavy crude oils, down to 18 API, compared to 30 API today.

Products Produced

  • The project will enable the refinery to produce Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel, Low Sulphur Gasoline and Sulphuric Acid. It will also improve the product mix and increase capacity.
