  • 1988 - Refinery part of acquisition of Atlantic Petroleum Corporation
  • 1994 - Acquired Chevron's Philadelphia Refinery, immediately adjacent to the former Atlantic facility, and set to work combining the two into a single, more efficient refining complex
  • 2009 - Project to reconfigure a previously idled hydrocracking unit to enable desulfurization of diesel fuel completed
  • 2011 - Sunoco announces decision to sell or close the refinery
  • 2012 - Sunoco Enters into Exclusive Discussions with The Carlyle Group to form a JV for the refinery
