- 1970 - Inaugurated as the Osaka Refinery of Koa Oil Co., Ltd.
- 1971 - Started operation (refining capacity of 80,000 barrels per day)
- 1992 - Refining capacity expanded to 95,000 barrels per day
- 1993 - Refining capacity expanded to 104,000 barrels per day
- 1998 - Started electric power sales
- 2003 - Refining capacity expanded to 115,000 barrels per day
- 2008 - Nippon Oil and CNPC Sign “Letter of Intent to Establish a Joint Refinery”
