- Project Summary: A greenfield refinery to serve the Southern Iraqi market

- UOP will provide reforming, isomerization, fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) and selective hydrotreating technologies
- Axens will provide residue & middle distillate hydrotreating and Isomerisation technologies
Refining Units
- There are two options
- VGO Hydrocracker + VGO FCC + Blown Asphalting
- In this case, the upgrading of the vacuum residue is not considered, and it is used as fuel for power plant and asphalt production.
- AR Direct Desulfurization + Resid FCC
- This is a scheme to convert most of atmospheric residue to light oils.
- VGO Hydrocracker + VGO FCC + Blown Asphalting
- H-OilRC Unit, - 52,000 barrels per day (BPSD)
- Prime-D™ – Gas Oil desulfurization hydrotreater - 105,000 BPSD
- Prime-K™ – Kerosene desulfurization hydrotreater - 24,000 BPSD
- Butane Isomerization unit – 11,900 BPSD.

Crude Supply
- Two kind of crude oils will be processed; Basrah and Mishrif.
- Basrah Crude Oil is light and similar to Arabian Light, while Mishrif Crude Oil is
rather heavy.
