Crude Supply

  • The Nikiski refinery processes approximately 19,000 barrels per day of Cook Inlet crude oil, up to 25,000 barrels per day of North Slope crude originating from the Alpine Field, with the remaining crude oil supply originating from foreign sources such as Indonesia, Africa and other foreign countries

Products Produced

  • The refinery produces low sulfur gasoline, jet fuel, ultra low sulfur diesel (USLD), heating oil, heavy fuel oils, propane and asphalt.
  • A 68-mile, 42,000 bpd common-carrier products pipeline transports jet fuel, gasoline and diesel to the Port of Anchorage and the Anchorage International Airport. Wholesale delivery occurs through terminals in Kenai, Anchorage, Tesoro’s Nikiski dock and the Port of Anchorage.

History

  • 1969 - Refinery Commisioned with capacity of 17,000 bpd
  • 1976 - Tesoro constructs pipeline from Nikiski refinery to Anchorage airport and port
  • 1983 - The refinery expands capacity to 72,000 barrels per day
  • 2005 - ULSD project launched
