Description

  • Located approximately 150 miles southeast of Venice, Louisiana in more than 8,000 feet of water, the Independence Hub is the deepest offshore platform ever installed in the world. The facility is also the largest in terms of production capacity, capable of handling up to 1 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) of natural gas
  • The platform is a deep-draft, semi-submersible platform that is connected initially to eight natural gas fields. These fields are located in the Atwater Valley, DeSoto Canyon and Lloyd Ridge areas of the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, where water depths range from 7,800 to 9,000 feet
  • Production from the hub is transported to shore via the 134-mile Independence Trail Natural Gas Pipeline
  • The gas fields connected to the hub are Atlas and Atlas NW, Jubilee, Merganser, San Jacinto, Spiderman, Vortex, Mondo NW, Q, Cheyenne, Callisto (Mississippi Canyon Blocks 875 & 876)

Contractors

  • Keppel: Semi-submersible hull construction
  • FMC: 10 subsea trees and associated equipment
  • UniversalPegasus: Engineering permitting, procurement assistance and construction management services
  • Aker Solutions: Umbilicals
