- Enbridge plans to reverse the flow of the pipeline to carry oil from Alberta to refineries in the east of Canada.
- They also plan to increase capacity to 300,000 bpd
History
- 1976 - Line 9 enters service
- 1999 - Flow in the pipeline was reversed to bring imported oil to the west
- 2011 - Enbridge announced reversal project for 9A
- 2012 - Enbridge announced reversal project for 9B
- 2012 - The NEB approves reversal of the Sarnia - North Westover section
- 2014 - NEB approves the reversal of the Westover - Montreal section
- 2015 - NEB approves the return to operations of Line 9
