  • Dunkirk's intended LNG terminal would have an annual hosting capacity of 9 Gm3 (billions of m3), or around 20% of France's current consumption.

  • Storage capacity: Three LNG storage tanks each with a capacity of 190,000 m3; a tank measures around 50 m in height and has a diameter of 90 m ;

Project Status

  • a final investment decision which, given the time needed to prepare the applications, is likely to occur at some point in the first six months of 2010 with start-up expected in 2015.

  • Total will utilise some of the capacity for its needs
  • EDF will use majority of the capacity to supply 3 new gas fired plants which it is building
  • Supplies will come from the Sabine Pass LNG Terminal Project
