Geology

  • The source bed in the Daqing Oilfield is mainly Mesozoic Cretaceous sandstone of continental facies, 900 to 1,200 meters underground.

History

  • 1959 - The commercial discovery from Songji No.3 well marks the discovery of Daqing Oilfield
  • 1976 - Production peaked at 50 million tons per year

Other Information

  • From year of 1976 to 2002, an outstanding 50 million tons stable production of crude oil continuous for 27 years has been produced
  • The crude oil is paraffin based, characterized by a high wax content (20%-30%), high freezing point (25 ℃-30 ℃), high viscosity (ground viscosity of 35), and a low sulphur content (less than 0.1%).
  • At present, the oil recovery efficiency of the major fields has surpassed 50%
