- 2002 - FERC made preliminary determination to approve the project
- 2003 - Sempra Energy acquired Hackberry LNG Terminal LLC from Dynegy Midstream and changed the company’s name to Cameron LNG
- 2003 - Commission Approves the LNG Import Terminal,
- 2005 - IHI awarded construction contract
- 2005 - Construction began
- 2009 - Commercial operations began
