History

  • 1968 - Refinery commissioned with a capacity of 45,000 bpd
  • 1973 - Refinery capacity increased to 88,000 bpd and vacuum unit added
  • 1986 - Visbreaker commissioned
  • 2005 - Isomerisation unit commissioned
  • 2006 - Petroplus purchases the refinery from Sovereign Holding Limited (Bermuda)
  • 2011 - Refinery temporarily closed due to Petroplus liquidity problems
  • 2012 - The refinery is acquired by Gunvor
