The shaky state of the world's economy, may be slowing the sector down, but there are many projects going ahead.

In Mexico, Pemex is upgrading its refineries to produce better quality products. In order to produce ULSD, it has signed a contract with Axens covering the revamping of six existing Diesel Desulphurisation units as well as the addition of three new ones. Meanwhile Pemex also signed a deal with Haldor Topsøe, to provide catalysts, unit modernisation and and additional Diesel Desulphurisation unit.

In India, the Mangalore Refinery Project has awarded a contract to Technip, for the heaters for four major units.

New greenfield projects in Turkey, Nigeria and Iraq, also awarded major deals during the month. Foster wheeler got a FEED Contract for the Aliaga Petkim Refinery Project in Turkey, and a Feasibility & FEED contract for the Nassiriya Refinery Project in Iraq.

KBR, meanwhile was awarded a contract for Design and Early Engineering Services for the Araromi Refinery Project in Nigeria.
