Yesterday, Tullow Oil released an operational statement containing the following line:

To date, in the second half of 2010, the Group has made excellent operational progress and financial performance is in line with expectations. The Owo-1 sidetrack has confirmed Owo as a major new light oil field offshore Ghana, potentially the largest in Africa since Jubilee.

Since the Jubilee Oil Field is one of the most exciting new fields to be found recently this could be very good news for Tullow.

Another company active in Ghana, reckons they might have found the real deal. Tap Oil, in their latest presentation they call their offshore acrage, a Potential Jubilee type prospect.

For a Au$700 million company, that would be a big find indeed.

A fully apraisal of their Ghana prospect can be found

Once again, the best news is coming out of Africa.
