Introduction
- Albania is an oil and gas bearing country. It is almost one century that Albania is producing significant petroleum quantities. Petroleum operations in Albania started early 1800 when the first geological surveys have taken place.
- Currently the country only produces about 11,000 bpd of oil but there is potential for further growth

Regulation
- The National Agency for Natural Resources protects and well administrates the interests of Albania in hydrocarbon, mining and energy field.
- The scope of the National Agency for Natural Resources is the development and supervision of the rational exploitation of natural resources based on Government policies, and the monitoring of their post-exploitation in the sectors of mining, hydrocarbons and hydropower.
- Hydrocarbon law allows oil to be directly exported by the existing pipeline network and harbor facilities or the oil can be refined for domestic use at two existing refineries
